Artwork Purchased from Salon D’ Art:
All artworks from Salon D’ Art come with a Certificate of Authenticity and a Commercial Appraisal. They are guaranteed by Salon D’ Art, and can be given to your insurance company as supporting documentation.
Authenticity: Our authentication comes with a full life-time guarantee. If the piece is discovered to be not what we claim it to be, we will issue a full refund, or customer credit. Our in-house works on paper expert team, led by Suleyman Cooke, has 20 years of experience in the museum and gallery world, authenticating art on paper. Mr. Cooke is one of the Picasso experts on the West Coast. Each piece is hand selected, and purchased ‘unframed’ to evaluate the paper and condition of the artwork. We restore pieces that need slight corrections in their PH balance, and remove any elements that could potentially harm the paper over time. All artwork is scrutinized for watermarks, provenance, references, and sizing, and any other features necessary to fully authenticate the work.
Provenance: As for the provenance, we provide any information that we have as to the previous ownership. If the previous owners allow us to disclose the information, we always do. However, when it comes to dealers, these are sources that we are unwilling to disclose for a number of reasons. One of the main reasons is that it is our source for acquiring artwork. Many sources are only dealers to galleries and other dealers, and often wish to remain private.
Additionally, 20th-century masters usually have a limited list of provenance due to the time the work had been available on the market. Typically, just a dealer is listed, or an heir to the family or the original owner. Even then, these families often wish to remain anonymous.
